The treatment of heart disease has always been a difficult problem, especially for patients who need a heart transplant. First of all, it is very difficult to find a suitable donor, not to mention that there are many patients who are also waiting in line for a donor, and the body receiving a new organ There is also a risk of complications. However, Tel Aviv researchers have successfully printed a heart using 3D printing technology, paving the way for future fights against heart disease. The 3D printed heart is made from the patient's own cells, which means that the heart is 100% compatible with the patient's body and will not be rejected by the patient's body.

The process works by extracting adipose tissue from a patient, separating cellular and non-cellular components, then "reprogramming" them into stem cells, and finally into heart cells. A press release from the study revealed that "patients will no longer have to wait for transplants or medications to prevent rejection reactions. The organs needed will be printed out and provided to each patient completely individually."

However, this project is still in the early stages of development. Researchers have only successfully printed a 2.5 cm heart using 3D printing technology. This small heart is not yet available for human use. It is estimated that a full-sized human heart requires billions of cells and may take a whole day to Print it out, but that doesn't mean the project has no potential.

According to Professor Tal Dvir, who is in charge of the project, "this process can be used to print part of the heart's tissue and replace the diseased area."
